Significant growth for Gateway Chassis Solutions
With increased demand for chassis supply
The park and leisure home industry has seen unprecedented challenges in the supply chain in the past couple of years, both in the logistics of supply and the pricing. This has undoubtedly put pressure on these suppliers, manufacturers and parks to work harder than ever to manage these changes.
Trust in working relationships and safe supply has never been more important, and suppliers have responded to challenges accordingly to help meet increased demand.
For Gateway Chassis Solutions, one of many suppliers helping to keep park and holiday homes moving through production in a timely manner, this has resulted in significant growth in the past year, with chassis production at their Hull plan ramping up by a staggering 40% year-on-year in their first quarter and a further increase predicted.
Managing Director Chris Ramsden explains; “For us, there were three clear priorities; consistency of supply to our manufacturing partners according to their increased needs, managing the cost of supply to our customers as carefully as possible, and managing the quality benchmarks and expectations of not only our customers but also our own expectations with new staff on board who needed training and support.”
Some of the changes made to achieve this saw additional investment in new plant and machinery including a new automated saw, a new punching and cropping line, and another new Gateway Chassis Solutions truck – all deployed to increase output and delivery capabilities. The firm has also ramped up its operational capability from a staffing perspective, with a 40% increase in the shop floor workforce, and a firm bolstering of the management team to support the new growth.
Chris continues; “It was important for us that this growth was carefully managed. Like our products, core stability is our mantra, and we’re thrilled that we’ve been able to offer increased production capacity as a result of these changes. We will continue to work with existing and new manufacturing customers to help ensure we keep pace with their needs and are in a solid position to respond to market forces going forward.”
